What a bargain Let me start by asking myself the question: Do I need this? The answer is no. I have a netbook PC, a Samsung galaxy phone and a Samsung galaxy 10.1 tab. I am pretty well connected to the cloud.Am I glad I dropped a C note on this puppy – you betcha.I opened the packaging and there it was. Powered it up. Android 4.0 with no bloatware forced on you by other tab manufacturers.I wend straight to the Google Play Store (I hate the new name for the App Store). Downloaded Skype. Got a “its not certified for this device message but will work OK – you may get a better image with a certified device” – whatever – it worked well. Called my parents in Australia no prob.Downloaded the Kindle app. Logged in and pulled down a free book for prime members that i had previously “bought”. It was on the device in seconds.Added a memory card. The internal memory is named SDcard and the external is EXTSD. The file manager was easier to navigate for someone with moderate knowledge of a PC and files. The card is an 8BG from my phone – I am waiting on a 32GB for the new pup. The download directory of the card had the swype apk file on it. I touched it and it asked me to install. No problems.I use an FTP server on my PC to transfer files. Its easy to set up from youtube instructions in both vista and win7. I installed the app andFTP on the new 7″ tab and I was downloading files in seconds. I dropped an 1GB rip of a TV show onto the device and started watching. No probs there either. With my wifi router 10 feet from me I was pulling in a file at 1200kbs/s – as fast as on any PC I have and comparable to the Galaxy Tab.Its not a Galaxy Tab. It does not have the screen resolution but its more than acceptable. The screen is bright clear, and responsive to touch and swype. It did have a lock up when I installed the card while it was powered up but that was resolved with a reboot and the card was instantly recognized.I attached a USB flash drive to the miniUSB port with an adapter and i was reading text files from it. No probs.I don’t have a mini HDMI cable so I cant test the port. I cant ever see myself using it as a media player to an LCD TV but taking a cord, a flash drive with movies and the power adapter to a hotel is an idea for the future.I will look for a generic case and screen protector for it. At one hundred and five dollars, prime shipping, no tax its cheap enough and simple enough for me to give one to my 70 year old Mum.I coughed up five times the price for my Samsung 10.1 that I am scared to lose. This guy is going to be my beater. In its settings it lists all the 3G Huweii dongles that it is compatible with if you want data and cant get WiFi hot spot from your phone.UPDATE 6/23/12Just went to buy a second one for a friend at work. Price is now sub one hundred. I ordered the HDMI cable for this so I will update when I can.UPDATE 6/25/12I am going to add my answers to some comments by fellow members as they add to the review. There is a USB port on the device. You need to buy a dongle (something that hangs off the side of the device) that is a USB 3g or 4g modem. Alternatively you can buy a hot spot device and use wifi from it.it has a front facing 0.3MP camera only. no rear facing cam. If you want to take photos – bring a decent cheap camera designed for the task. It works well in google chat and skype but its strictly low end. I new that from the reviews I read and am happy with that. Even the latest version of the samsung galaxy tab 10.1 has only a 0.3 front facing camera. The 5MP rear camera on the samsung is barely acceptable for video and pictures.I bought it through Proexpress Distributor LLC, fulfilled by Amazon. First one was one-0-five. Bought a second one three days later for ninety-9. Prime 2 day shipping. No tax.Battery lasted 4-5 hrs with non stop use on 75% screen brightness.Speaker is not its strong point. Not stereo. I played some mp3 and movies using earphones and sound was finethe tab is ideal for piddling. if you want to type a long letter you may find it frustrating. I absolutely love swype (you have to go to the website and download the beta version) The android auto correct needs to be educated on many words so always re-read what you typed before sending an email. I get some funny ones that people using tabs and phones send. Today I was using it to send IMs in skype to my wife overseas. We were discussing neo-behavioralists and learning theories. I almost tossed the tab off the balcony.I bought the cheap usb keyboard/case for it SANOXY Slim 7 Inch Faux Leather Keyboard Case for Tabletpc Epad Apad MID Laptop Notebook Usb2.0 Stylus Stand I need a usb to mini usb adapter to test the keyboard out. I will try tomorrowUPDATE 6/26/2012…

Excellant!!! Very good for the price, as they say you pay for what you get, and as this was my second try on purchasing a tablet, and love this, very good to use easy operation, fast and Relible with lots of toys (apps) have installed few others from amazon is great, also you can use the google play apps too. but prefer amazon and there apps are better sometimes. so if your looking into a inexpensive tablet this is the one. great to use almost anywhere there is wi-fi, but web camera not as good. was hoping for a camera, would of been better with this. but is great to have.
